John Liddle is a Barrister practising exclusively criminal law in
the City of Windsor, Ontario. Mr. Liddle has been a member in good standing of the Law
Society of Upper Canada, the regulatory body for lawyers in Ontario, since 1990. He
graduated from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law in 1988. He also holds an
undergraduate (1983) and a Masters degree (1985) in English Language and Literature. Mr. Liddle articled at the highly regarded Toronto law firm Borden & Elliott (now
Borden
Ladner Gervais), and joined the firm as an Associate in 1990. In 1991, he left the firm to
pursue his interest in criminal law, and was employed as a salaried duty counsel in
Toronto. In 1993, he was became an associate to defence counsel Steven R. Clark, who was
recently appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice. Mr. Liddle returned to his hometown,
Windsor, in early 1995, and opened his own criminal law practice.
Mr. Liddle served as President of the Windsor Criminal Lawyers’
Association from 2001 - 2003, and he held the position of the Windsor
Regional Director of the Ontario Criminal Lawyers’ Association from 1999
– 2002. He has lectured on criminal law issues at the University of
Windsor and at St. Clair College, and has also taught at the Bar
Admissions Course in the area of criminal law practice.

An experienced litigator, Mr. Liddle has appeared as counsel on numerous jury
trials in the Superior Court of Justice, and has appeared as counsel on many judge alone
trials at the Ontario Court of Justice level. Mr. Liddle lives in
Windsor with his wife and two daughters. |
